As a 2 year old...
I can't believe March is already half over! I feel like we just celebrated David's 2nd birthday! David's life at age 2 is really fun. We have been having gorgeous weather the last few days so David has been running ("NUNNing!", as he says it) around at the park and outside. He is definitely more independent compared to last warm weather season and can be left to entertain himself for bits of time, especially since this spring he is able to walk:)
The last several weeks, I have taken David swimming quite a bit. Boy, does he have a blast! He constantly insists that I let go of him, saying, "Dabid all bine self!" He also will not let me hold him when he 'jumps' off the side. So, he just steps right off the edge, either thinking he really can do it all by himself, or I will catch him! Since all this swimming, he has become more daring at bath time. He will declare "Dabid lay on a back!" and roll himself right over. He also doesn't mind putting his face in the water and almost always comes up laughing, whether or not he has swallowed or sucked in water. All that to say, I do believe we have a little swimmer on our hands, which of course, I'm very excited about:)
Some things he likes to do (and how he says he is going to do them):
"pway wis anmils"
"weed books all bine self bwown chaiw"
"pour sugar in it" and "mash it" (while helping me bake)
"kick wed ball, 'kerpow'!"
"pway hide seek don't peek!" (he does this quite well. he will cover his eyes, count to 10 and then come find me:)
"mama, catapiwaw baby, pees!" (meaning he wants me to make him into a 'caterpillar baby'; this is what he is 'being' in the bottom picture. Peter rolled him up one day in this blanket and he came to show me. I told him he looked like a caterpillar baby and ever since then, it is a frequent request.)
The other night, he requested to sleep with his tiny little stuffed dog. The next morning was Saturday so Peter and I were still in bed when David woke up. This is what we heard, "Hi, dawg. Good mowning, dawg! I yuv you, dawg!" Later that same morning, Peter was working with David in the backyard. Someone was taking their dog for a walk. David ran up to the fence and said, "Good mowning, dawg!"
Another heart-melting thing he has started doing more and more lately is spontaneously running up to me saying, "kiss, hug!" Then he wants immediately down and continues playing. He also is interacting with other kiddos more and more. A while ago, I was laying in his bed with him (something he occasionally requests). Since he more or less wakes up, starts talking, and doesn't really stop talking until he goes to bed at night, he was jabbering away. So, he started saying lists of things like, "Dabid n Yindy (meaning Lindy, a daughter of good friends of ours whom he plays with alot) fwiends! Dabid n Mama fwiends! Dabid n Teddy fweinds! Dabid n toys fwiends!"
Yesterday, we were walking to the mailbox. David was saying the alphabet, half-heartedly, and kept repeating the same 6 or 7 letter sequence over and over. So, I decided to jump in to get him back on the right track. I said "A", he said, "A, Amewican ants!, B, Biwd bike, C, Cow car, D, Dawg dwum!" He was saying his alphabet book:) He had never said those letter associations without the book, so that was a cute surprise:)
Until next time...

I love all the cute things David is saying now! It's amazing how quickly he is learing new words and phrases! I LOVE that he talked to his tiny dog the other morning--SO CUTE! :)
Oh, man!!! I so love to read all about the conversations and activities, and would be hard-pressed to choose a favorite---they're all favorites!!! It's so cool how he's enjoying the water!!! And sounds like, life as a 2-year old, in general!!! And I love how he jabbers non-stop all waking moments of the day!
