21 month check up

David had his 21 month check up today. When we left the Dr's office, I made an appointment for the next follow-up and the lady said, "ok, we'll see you when you are two!" WHOA!!! That caught me off guard. "24 months" and "2 years" sound like two completely different things!! Anyway, here are his stats:

Height: 31 1/4 inches

Weight: 18 lbs. 5.5 oz.

Here is an update about what David is doing these days. He is learning new words like crazy! I can ask him to say nearly any word and he will usually at least try, even if it doesn't end up sounding anything like the real word. But, he genuinely learns new words every day, and often it is more like several words every day. His absolute FAVORITE thing is animals. Animals of any kind! Plastic, stuffed, real or in books! His Grammie recently brought him a "Little People" farm when she came to visit and he LOVES it! He plays with it off and on all day. When we run errands, I ask David if he wants to bring an animal. He has, until now, always selected his teddy, or occassionally, it will be another stuffed animal. The other day when I asked, he went running across the house saying "ho, ho" (horse, horse)! He came back with the little horse animal that goes with his farm toy. Now, horse often accompanies teddy on our outings:) Today, both horse and cow got to go check on the chickens.

Peter, David and I are looking forward to a two week visit to North Dakota leading up to and including Thanksgiving week! We will have the chance to see lots of relatives and Peter will hunt deer at his Grandpa's farm. I have been planning to get a few new little toys for David to keep him entertained on the 13 hour drive. We went to Target today and he was allowed to pick out a new book for the trip. Guess what he picked?! An animal book that makes animal sounds. Oh boy!
