"Is that kind of really a joke?"

My little joke teller!

Okay, so I had to post this before I forgot it, and because it made me laugh out loud (later).  David loves to tell jokes.  He gets "stuck" on one and repeats it over and over.  He also tries to make up his own.  As soon as he finishes his "joke" he says, "is that kind of really a joke?"  I'm thinking he asks this because I often tell him his "jokes" are more like stories (filled with sound effects, because he is a boy:)

Anyway, this is the joke he is currently "stuck" on: "What time was it when the elephant sat on the fence?  Time to get a new fence!"  Hahaha!

This is what he said to me the other night while eating dinner:

David: "Mama, I have a joke."

Me: "What is your joke?"

David: "Um, what did the elephant say when it sat on the microwave?"

Me: "I don't know!"

David: "STINK! Because he POOPED on the microwave!  Is that kind of really a joke?"

Me: Trying DESPERATELY not to laugh...this took considerable self-control...explained that we don't talk about poop in jokes, especially not while eating!

I never know quite what he is going to say when he starts to tell a "joke."  I do know one day that he is going to say something like this in a very public setting...at which time I will likely NOT have the self control to refrain from laughing out loud!

And you realize little boys are gonna like talk about poop and think bodily noises in general are all hilarious, along with contests of who can belch the loudest, etc., etc.---especially since you are currently way out-numbered by the male gender---and they will all gang up on you just to "get your goat"!!!! :>)
